The Immunization Clinic Nurse is a Registered Nurse and/or a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse who seeks to protect the community from vaccine preventable diseases by providing immunization services to the general public. The nurse assesses the immunization status of clients, administers vaccines, and educates clients and caregivers about immunizations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Meets professional nursing standards and pertinent local, state, and federal requirementsMaintains and delivers quality serviceSets up individual clinic sitesReviews protocols and age-specific vaccine requirements prior to the opening of the clinicRegisters participantsCompletes appropriate client Immunization Consent forms and clinic records to ensure correct vaccines are administered and documentedDraws up vaccines according to manufacturer's instructions and administers them using safe and proper techniques and a system of double checks to ensure accuracyDisposes of bio-hazardous waste in the appropriate and prescribed mannerDismantles clinic siteCompletes documentationUses and remains knowledgeable of Universal PrecautionsUses and maintains knowledge of company and clinic policies and proceduresHas knowledge of action to be taken in the event of an emergency; including epinephrine administration during an anaphylaxic reactionHas knowledge of protocols for adverse reactions, as well as reporting of incidents and injuries.Transports biologicals, sharps, and other required supplies to clinic sites in a safe and secure mannerHas knowledge of Vaccine Safety Control requirementsMaintains confidentiality at all timesPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Active professional nursing license in the state of practiceOne (1) year of prior professional nursing experience preferredCurrent CPR certification with documentation Professional references requiredKnowledge and understanding of the dosage, administration, age indications, precautions, contraindications and possible adverse reactions related to the vaccine being administeredKnowledge of intramuscular injection technique and subcutaneous injection techniqueCompletion of Maxim's Immunization Competency Program with a score of 80% or betterCompletion of Maxim's Immunization Screening Exam and Pediatric Training DVD Module Computer proficiency requiredAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English languageSuccessful completion of Maxim's background screening and hiring processBenefits At Maxim Healthcare Services, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: Competitive pay & weekly paychecks Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) savings plan Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
